What Her Clients Have to Say
Her Entrepreneurial Heritage – Newsweek Magazine
A former wartime pilot and Time magazine’s first foreign editor, my grandfather, Thomas J. C. Martyn, had a vision: to establish a weekly news magazine that would rival Time magazine, which in the 1930s was the only magazine of its kind in the United States. Martyn succeeded so resoundingly that Newsweek has prospered for 90 years, first as a stalwart of print media and now in the digital era, as well. Newsweek was Martyn’s brainchild, brought to life through his own perseverance and ingenuity.
Despite his herculean entrepreneurial effort, her grandfather was cheated out of his creation, as his memoir explains. (Thus I am no “trust fund baby” and have built up my own businesses just like he did.)

On a Personal Note…
Anne was raised in New England, and has lived in Switzerland, the Midwest, and Colorado and now lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. She got her entrepreneurial “gene” from her grandfather, Thomas J. C. Martyn, who was the founder of Newsweek. Anne is an avid hiker in the Smokies, the Rockies and beyond, a lover of all kinds of art (painting, sculpture, music), a natural healing fan, and constant reader. She plays piano and blues guitar, spends time in the woods, attends the occasional college basketball game and does target practice with her recurve bow. She is proud to have the same birthday as Vincent Van Gogh, Eric Clapton, and Tracy Chapman.
